Why Arabic?

The Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) is now changing all the road signboards in Kuala Lumpur to bilingual, that is, Arabic and Bahasa Melayu. This made people wonder when Arabic is not being understood by the majority, even by Malay itself.

The Arabic is actually not just exists in the matter of road signboards but also the money note and government centre and agencies as well, be like National Library of Malaysia (PNM). The logos of most government agencies are designed with the existence of Arabic words.

This practice is totally an illogical because Arabic is not a national language of Malaysia and it is also not a mother tongue language for all Malaysian. How could the government stand on this when there is a MCA, Gerakan and MIC? This shows MCA, Gerakan and MIC are not trustworthy for their supporters.

How could DBKL decided to change the road signboards which are still okay to with Arabic? Why DBKL willing to spend such millions ringgits of the people for just to add Arabic but did not restore pot-holes, waterways, cut grass and build facilities for people as it had been many complaints by the people to the DBKL?

However, the four DAP members of parliament, namely, Teresa Kok, Tan Seng Giaw, Fong Kui Lun and Tan Kok Wai have brought this issue to Datuk Bandar Kuala Lumpur, Datuk Abdul Hakim Borhan and presented the Muhibbah road signboard to Mr. Shaari, the PA to Datuk Bandar of Kuala Lumpur. This shows DAP is able to mobilize people, irrespective of race, religion or culture.
