“Broom Award”: Pak Lah Shows Hypocrisy

The Prime Minister, Dato Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has given the boot to the “broom award”, which he deems to be demeaning.

“It should not have happened at all. Use more effective methods to enhance the performance of these agencies,” Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi told reporters after visiting the Islamic Civilization Park in Pulau Wan Man.

He was commenting on the recent awarding of brooms by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo to the president of the Hulu Selangor District Council and former district officer of the Hulu Selangor Land Office.

Pak Lah said awards which are considered unnecessary or not well accepted by the majority should be avoided.

I am amazed that such remark (bold sentence) being made by Pak Lah when he preserved Hishammuddin who brandished the Keris Melayu in these recent years UMNO general assemblies. Whereby, Hishammuddin’s action is also not well accepted by the people but why the UMNO leaders still obstinate on refusing to stop provoke the nation?
