Defending Islam or Becoming an Extremist?

Since the 8th March ‘Political Tsunami’, racial issue is obviously more widely using by the Barisan Nasional (BN) and other Islamic-based organizations to light up the racial sentiment among the Malay people as Malay people the majority voters in this country.

The 12th General Elections had clearly told the BN that we, the people of Malaysia irrespective of race and religion, want a change. However, until now the UMNO refused to change and just keeping on playing the trivial issues. We will always hear the BN leaders remark that is nice to hear which is “The General Elections has gave us a clear message, we have to change, UMNO will continually be relevant to the people”, but is it any changes in these racist parties system (UMNO, MCA, MIC)? What the Malaysian knows is that the racial issue playing by the UMNO and other Islamic-based organizations is even worse.

And of course, there is innocent to defend the religion of Islam and there is also innocent to defend the ethnic of Malay. Same go to other races and religions too. However, what certain parties and organizations doing are not defending Islam but becoming an extremist.

The current political affairs obviously the best evidence of UMNO extremism. That is, when Ahmad Ismail made a racist remark, no law action is taken against Ahmad but it was against the Sin Chew reporter, Tan Hoon Cheng who reported the issue, under the Internal Security Act (ISA). In the meantime, Utusan which reported wrongly and has twisted the Selangor’s Azan issue, no law action is taken against Utusan reporter but it was against the Selangor State Senior Executive Committee, Teresa Kok, under the ISA.

Where is the justice? Justice is not a mega-projects, it does not require even a single cent to perform, but UMNO also unwillingly to do so. Hence, is it UMNO still fits to be our government?

Besides, I ever read an article from the magazine of Milenia Muslim which mentioned that Hindraf demonstration had hurt the Malay people and I think that is ridiculous where in fact, the article had hurt the Indian people and the Hindraf demonstration has nothing to oppose Malay people but it is just to redeem their basic rights as there is no consideration of the government towards Indian community who facing many social problems.
